About me

I am a teacher turned home educator to four healthy, hearty children by the grace of God. We are blessed to live in the San Francisco Bay Area where our lives are enriched by the places and people around us. Homeschooling was not an epiphany for me, nor was it pushed upon me by any sad or dire circumstance. Home education was a well thought out, reflected and calculated move on the part of our family for the empowerment of our children and their holistic upbringing.
Although we had talked about home education in the past, we decided to take charge of our children’s education around the time God put us in charge of our first child. As a former teacher who worked in the private and public school systems I saw the positives and the negatives of the education industry and decided to not participate in it. As a mother I could not give the power to teach and educate my child to someone I barely knew, let alone trust. We decided to make quite a few changes to our lifestyle and prayed that God guides us to our destination.
Home education is not an easy route to take and I am the first to admit it. But it is a lot of fun and we must admit that as well. If we see no other option for our children’s education, we will have to make the most of our decision to homeschool. If we have a fall back option in the back of our minds, we will undoubtedly think that we can throw in the towel if things don’t work out and challenges may seem unsurmountable.
Home education has to be linked in our minds with close family units, subject matter mastery, fun family trips and a love of learning. This way one will see home education not as something to endure but something to enjoy- God Willing!
